If you’ve ever been to Homer, Alaska, you know how quickly the weather can change — one moment it’s sunshine and golden light, and the next it’s a misty drizzle rolling over the mountains. On this day at Diamond J Ranch, the rain decided to stick around, and honestly? I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
The way the air feels still, how everyone draws a little closer together, how laughter echoes louder under the shelter of the barn. From the moment I arrived, I knew this day was going to be special. The couple was completely unfazed by the forecast — they just wanted to soak up every second together, and that energy was contagious.
The ranch itself is such a dream. Surrounded by rolling fields and framed by distant mountains, it has that perfect blend of rustic charm and wild Alaskan beauty. Even with the low clouds and misty air, the landscape felt alive — soft, moody, and romantic in the best way. No forced poses, no rush — just two people deeply in love, completely at ease.
Kiana’s parents spent the days prior to the wedding catching wild salmon for their daughter’s wedding. The Goods grilled it up along with their other amazing food like oysters, and wild roasted root veggies – SO GOOD. It was so beautiful and thoughtful of her family to serve all of their guests a taste of Alaska – caught with care just for this celebration.
One of my favorite parts of the day was watching everyone embrace the weather. Guests laughed under umbrellas, kids splashed through puddles, and inside the barn, the warm light glowed golden against the cool, rainy blue outside. When the music started and the couple shared their first dance, the whole place felt like something out of a movie — romantic, real, and full of heart.
By the end of the night, the air smelled like rain and wood smoke, and the sky had started to clear just enough to see a hint of the mountains again. It was one of those weddings that reminded me why I love what I do — capturing stories that aren’t perfect, but beautifully, authentically real.

Rain or shine, Homer always delivers — and this wedding at Diamond J Ranch was proof that sometimes, the most unforgettable moments come when you just let the day unfold exactly as it is.
